You may be surprised to hear it’s one of the simplest items we all own in our closet: the basic white tee.

This $5 basic from Amazon came in first place for me, in terms of style, silhouette, and comfort. I was hesitant when I ordered it—for the low cost, I thought it was going to be sheer and uncomfortable. But in fact, it was quite the opposite. The quality is surprisingly good for $5—there is no trace of your bra showing underneath (hallelujah!), and the arm length and neckline were really nice fitting. There is a reason that this has remained a best seller on Who What Wear for the past year. Hands down, this is the best $5 you’ll spend!
